
Class Comments: This lesson will continue to explore how differences in conceptions of land use and ownership led to conflict between whites and Native Americans, as well as disrupting tribal relationships between rival tribes (Plains Indians and Wars). In addition, this lesson will explore how the horse, the gun, and the plague affected the movement patterns and culture of native peoples in the American West. In this lesson students will examine how the encroachment of whites into western frontier lands and the introduction of the horse began to transform traditional Native American ways and territories.
